How to Block Suggested Apps from Automatically Installing In Windows 10

This article describes how to block suggested apps from auto-installing in Windows 10. One of the new things Microsoft is doing with Windows 10 is showing suggested apps in the Start menu. You can easily block Windows 10 from automatically installing suggested apps. All you have to do is change the value key from the Windows Registry.

One of the most annoying things about Windows bloatware is suggested apps. You get suggestions for irrelevant apps in the Start menu and those apps are installed on your system automatically. This not only adds weight to the system but also consumes your data bandwidth.

If you are also tired of the automatic installation of suggested apps on your Windows 10 PC, you can block them by following the simple tutorial in this article.

As with many things in Windows, you need to make a quick Registry change to stop the installation of a suggested application. While the process is fairly straightforward, I recommend that you back up the registry before proceeding any further.

Manual Method

Step 1: Open the Run dialog on your Windows computer by pressing (Windows key + R). Type “regedit” in the Run dialog and press the Enter key. Since the Windows Registry requires administrative access, you must allow UAC to open the Registry after pressing the Enter key.

Step 3: In the folder ContentDeliveryMangercheck value SilentInstalledAppsEnabled. If the value is in the folder, just double click on it and change the value to 0 and leave the other options intact.

If the value is not in the folder, you will need to create one and set it to 0. To do so, right-click on an empty space and select “New” to make “Value DWORD (32-bit)” .

Use Tool to Disable Suggested Apps

There are many tools that you can use to remove and disable recommended apps in Windows 10. And one of the recommended tools is Disable_suggested_apps.

Noteworthy here is the manual method and the Disable_suggested_apps tool only blocks recommended apps from automatic installation. While applications that are already installed must be uninstalled manually.
