Its small screen keeps you updated throughout the day with lots of notifications. To accommodate everything in the available space, Apple has assigned Icons and symbols to the same.

Given that there are so many icons and symbols on the Apple Watch, in this article I will discuss the meaning of each of these icons and symbols. Let’s take a look at all the meanings of the icons and symbols on Apple Watch.

Most of us are aware of this symbol. This symbol signifies power, a green lightning bolt on your Apple Watch screen indicates that your watch is connected to a charger and successfully charged your device. Once fully charged, this thunder mark will have a circle surrounding it.

The symbol indicates that your Apple Watch is running low on battery and needs to be charged as early as possible. The symbol appears once your battery percentage drops to 10%. However, if you don’t have a charger, you are advised to consider turning on the power backup. Doing this will turn off all the features except displaying the current time which ultimately helps to extend the battery life.

The icon indicates that your Apple Watch is in Airplane Mode. Therefore, in this mode, you will not have access to your wireless features. Only non-wireless functions can be used.

The symbol implies that your Watch is in Do Not Disturb Mode. Being in this mode, your Apple Watch screen will not turn on or ring when receiving any call or text. However, the alarm clock functionality will still work.

The symbol tells you that your Apple Watch is in Theater Mode. Here, silent mode is activated automatically, and the screen remains dark until a digital crown or tap is accessed on the screen. Having this feature will keep the screen dark all the time.

As you might guess, this Icon says your Apple Watch is in sleep mode. While in this mode, the screen will turn off, and when you tap on the screen, a sleep timer will appear in front of you. You can set time for sleep mode from app settings.

The icon indicates that your Apple Watch is connected to the Wi-Fi Icon. You can turn Apple Watch’s Wi-Fi on and off by tapping on the little radar icon in Control Center.

This icon can only be seen on Apple Watches that have GPS + Cellular connectivity and are currently connected to a cellular network. Therefore, the horizontal dot indicates the strength of your signal.

This icon implies that your watch is not connected to your iPhone. To remove this Icon from your Apple Watch screen, consider holding it close to your iPhone or check if Airplane mode is turned on. If it’s on, turn it off.

If your Apple Watch has GPS connectivity and has lost cellular network, you will find this sign on your watch screen.

You can switch audio output by tapping this Icon in Control Center. This is useful if you have paired different audio sources like speakers, headphones and accessories.

The icon indicates that the Water Lock feature on your Apple Watch is on. It holds your Apple Watch from performing certain functions. The list includes Wi-FI, Bluetooth, and other functions. Not only that, with this feature, your watch will not respond to taps. You can enable and disable the feature from Control Center.

Don’t remove this red dot on your Apple Watch unless you are busy. It means that you have unread notifications.

If you can see this Icon on Apple Watch Screen, the app or functionality uses your location in the background.

As you might guess, the Icon indicates that your Apple Watch is locked. Please enter your passcode to unlock the Watch.

This icon is usually seen if you are using a workout app on your Watch. However, if you see the Icon even when not using it, consider restarting your Apple Watch.

If this icon appears, it means that your Watch is using the Walkie-Talkie application on your Watch. It lets you connect with your friends remotely.

This icon only appears when your Apple Watch is using a third-party app for navigation. It will disappear automatically as soon as your navigation ends.

The icon can usually be seen when one or another feature is listening to you. The list of functions includes talking to Siri, recording, washing hands, or Walkie-Talkie.

This is a creative version of the old play button. Therefore, if your Apple Watch is playing audio, an Icon will appear at the top of the screen.
