PowerVision showcased its newest drone, the PowerEgg X a few days ago at CES 2022. The PowerEgg X serves two purposes – it can be used as a normal drone and an AI powered handheld AI camera.
PowerVision’s AI uses facial recognition technology and combines it with deep learning techniques to keep the subject in the frame. Even if the subject moves out of the 170° field of view that the PowerEgg X offers, the gadget is able to detect the subject on return.
In addition, the camera offers support for motion technology. You can use any of the supported gestures to instruct the camera to take pictures and videos. This feature will be useful for taking group photos.
When the PowerEgg X is in drone mode, it shoots 4K video at 60fps. Meanwhile, it is capable of 1080p real-time transmission within 6km. It has a sustained wind speed of 29-38 kph and can fly for 30 minutes. It is also equipped with 20m obstacle detection.
To power all these AI capabilities, the PowerEgg X uses a high-performance 13-core multiprocessor and 5-core CPU along with a single-core GPU, quad-core DSP, and dual-core neural network engine booster.
PowerVision claims that the PowerEgg X is the world’s first drone that can capture sound thanks to its SyncVoice technology. In this way, you can speak from your smartphone and the voice will be recorded in the video.
This drone is IPX6 rated and can basically fly in the rain. You can optionally purchase a waterproof accessory for taking off and landing the drone on the water.
As I mentioned earlier, the gadget can also be used as a handheld gimbal camera capable of recording 4K video at 60fps. This gadget harnesses the power of a 3-axis gimbal stabilizer to provide high-end stabilization in your videos. In camera mode, the gadget lasts up to 3.5 hours.
The PowerEgg X starts at $899 and $1299 along with a waterproof accessory kit.
